No family
should
fight cancer
alone.
Help families like Alyssa and Luke's stay together this Christmas.
This Christmas, you can help families stay together in a home away from home, while they fight cancer.
Every day, families in regional Australia like Alyssa and Luke’s face heartbreaking distances just to access life-saving cancer treatment. This Christmas, many will spend hours on the road instead of being in the comforts of their own home.
Your donation will help give families travelling long distances for cancer treatment a safe and welcoming place to stay at our accommodation centres, Hilltop (Albury) and BMDI (North Melbourne), just steps away from major hospitals, and together for Christmas morning
At 5.30am, Alyssa’s life changed forever.
Just hours earlier, she found her husband Luke doubled over in pain. By dawn, he was being rushed 200 kilometres by ambulance to Albury Hospital – their three children suddenly facing a terrifying reality.
In that moment, Alyssa had no time to think – only act. She called our Hilltop accommodation centre and said, “I’m coming with a baby and my husband has a suspected tumour in his bowel. Is there a room?”
The answer was immediate: “It’s done – it’s sorted.”
This Christmas, families like Alyssa’s may face that same fear — long, arduous trips far from home, with nowhere nearby to stay.
Your generous gift can make sure they have a safe and welcoming home close to treatment, and a community that supports them when they need it most.
Your Christmas gift will help reduce the impact of cancer
Cancer doesn’t stop for Christmas – but your kindness can help make it easier for families far from home. Your donation today will provide affordable accommodation close to treatment, easing the financial, emotional, and physical burdens for families facing cancer this festive season.
For regional cancer patients, the cost of travel, accommodation, medications, and childcare can tip families into hardship and delay access to treatment. Your support helps ease this burden by providing affordable accommodation close to treatment centres.
A cancer diagnosis and treatment can be confronting. Our accommodation centres are an emotional support for families in their time of need, linking them with other support services and people on a similar journey.
Our purpose-built accommodation centres offer a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment that supports rest, healing, and recovery. Your support helps ensure patients have access to these vital facilities
